the big girls at the big table

The girls recently had their first try at the big table eating meatloaf, and rice. They are truly their mama's daughters. Filipinos eat rice 3x a day, but of course I've been toned down since living in the U.S. I can go for days without rice before I crave it. I wonder if the girls would be the same. Curious George is proving to be the opposite; he doesn't like rice or at least he says he doesn't. Depending on what is with the rice, he says he likes it.

kissy kissy

I gave the girls color wonder markers today to play with and here is what happened. This is also a good look at the "twin talk" - twins talking in their own language. It's a long video at 4 minutes, but if you stay for the whole thing, you'll see these 2 kissing at about 3 minutes in. (Thing 1 is in blue, Thing 2 is in green)

(Do watch it in High Quality to see their cute facial expressions. )

it's never quiet 'round this here part

The 3 little ducklings try to color together for the first time. While the activity is new, the noise isn't.

eating on the table

I tried the girls on Big Bro's sponge bob table, and they thoroughly enjoyed it. This is snack time, and on the menu is Graham Bug Bites cracker (milk free!) and cut up bananas. I also gave them a fork to try out for the first time. I find the fact that their feet do not reach the floor very cute. (Thing 2 on the left, Thing 1 on the right)

At one point, Thing 2 looked like she was trying to get off the chair, so I stepped in and helped. But based on her loud whailing, she didn't want to get off. So I had to sit her back in. She was then happy again.

Big Brother was snacking on the big table at the same time, so I had to check with him that it was alright for his sisters to use his table. He said yes. I suggested that we buy a square table, in order for everyone to have a space. He said no. He said he wanted to sit on the big table. But I may look at a square girly table anyway.

Kitchen Floor Time

(Click on the pictures to see an enlarged version.)

Katie and Jojo were having floor time this morning, barricated in the livingroom by the exersaucers, the couch, the chairs, and some pillows. But it didn't take Katie long to realize that she could escape by crawling under the exersaucers. And of course, after having done it once, she knows to keep coming back. We finally just let her explore the kitchen. She's so much faster on the kitchen than on the carpet!

It didn't take long before big brother joined in on the fun of crawling on all fours. He taught her the finer points of crawling by crawling under the table, the chair, the high-chairs. In the meantime, Jojo was all alone in the livingroom. She was content to just play by herself sitting up, until Daddy took her to the kitchen to join in the fun. She was a lot more restrained than Katie. She took in the new surrounding and took her time exploring one thing before moving on to the next.

With all these bodies on the floor, it wasn't long before there were casualties. Big brother slipped and somehow ended up with a busted lip, but the popsicle quieted him instantly. And then there was Katie, who was enjoying holding pulling up, but have yet to work out how to get her legs under her, so she ended up hitting her mouth as well.

It was a "free for all" morning, and I think it went quite well.

By the way, don't be thinking, "My, she's let her self go. Just look at those hairy legs!" Those are not mine. I swear!
