Yesterday morning, Big Bro asked if I could carry him down the stairs. I told him, "I can't, M. I told you Mommy's knees hurt."
He thought for a moment. "You carry only my sisters?"
Feeling like I've been caught in a lie, "They're babies and they are not very good at doing down the stairs yet. But you're a big boy and can do that by yourself."
He cocked his head to the side and crinkled the side of his face. He looked up at me and asked, "Your knees don't hurt when you carry my sisters?"
I conceded quietly and thought it better to change the subject at this point.

Thing 2's first steps by herself!
Thing 1 and I were just rolling around on the floor today when out of the corner of my eyes, I saw Thing 2 taking a few wobbly steps toward us. I couldn't contain my excitement, so I bolted up and started cheering her own. Then I grabbed the camera and made her do it again. :-)
After the few steps, I think she realized that she wasn't going to get hurt if she had to sit back down if she couldn't gain her balance. So now she's walking about 3 feet at a time.
Notice the frown she gave me after she fell. As if it was my fault!

weekends are starting to become really fun
The little ducklings are starting to play with each other and it's starting to get quite loud in here. Big Brother is quite good with his sisters. He is conscientious about playing with the both of them and giving them turns. But the girls have other ideas. They both want the same thing and want them now! Case in point, they both want to push Big Brother on the Wiggles car. But Thing 2 is not as adept at taking steps yet so she gets left behind. And when we enforce turn-taking, the other screams her head off. Oi.

4 steps to freedom
Little Miss Thing 1 just took 4 steps toward me before she went top heavy. Yay! She's been taking 3 steps the last couple of days and now she took 4.

their new shoes are here
The Robeez shoes I ordered online arrived today. So here are the girls modeling their new shoes. They are wearing a 24 month old shirt, and 18 month old pants and I must say, it makes them look very grown up. We are keeping up with the ponytail because that is the only one they cannot pull off.

Twins Mobility Check
Katie is still crawling with her torso down. She experiments with lifting her butt off the floor and pushes forward, but she reverts back to the military-type crawl. But she is very very fast! I put her down on the livingroom floor, and turn around to grab a diaper and she's already 3 feet away! She pulls up when we reach for her and when I set her hands on something firm. But she doesn't do it on her own yet. She doesn't step forward on her own when we hold her up by her hands.
Jojo still moves in a circle, but hasn't yet started moving forward. We've coaxed her but she is just not motivated enough to want to do it. But she does scoot when she's sitting down. I don't quite know how she does it, but I could be sitting right in front of her and still don't know how she moves 2 feet from where I set her down. She tried to pull up using the exersaucer one day, but the thing is highly unstable so she never tried again. She pulls up to standing position when we reach for her and she takes steps when we hold on to her. If we hold her by her hands, she takes steps on her own. She gets her legs crossed sometimes though. I had her holding on to the side of the crib one day, and she managed to move sideways. She is experimenting on cruising, but she eventually falls down because she steps over her other leg.
I have pictures to post, but not on the computer I am using at the moment. And I'm too lazy to change computers.
Both Katie and Jojo have a cold and their noses are dripping like a faucet. Katie has taken to refusing the breast for this reason. I had to pump one night and just gave her breastmilk through a bottle.
Matty's skin is suffering form little itchy bumps, no doubt caused by pollen. Thankfully, he's been on allergy medication for a couple of weeks now, so at least he's not itching as bad and not sneezing like he usually does this time of year.
